Strolling into the HK Costco, this tricked out Chevy 3100 pick up was parked in the front row. I’m not sure if it is a 49 as Chevy made the 5 window model an option in different years. This is a good example of the “Advanced Design” line of pick ups that Chevy introduced in 1948. They featured a larger cab and higher roof which actually accommodated 3 people in the front of the cab. Heater and defrosters were some of the luxury items that came standard as well. The windshield and rear window were bigger and the front grille was changed. The fenders got a more rounded “aerodynamic” look which lasted until 1955. This rod’s got a classic paint job, fresh pin stripping, its lowered and the bed is raised. A sunscreen shades the split front window, the tires got the fat white walls and the chrome lug nuts make a subtle but nice statement. I didn’t get to pop the hood as the owner was not around. But if the Lumpy posse see’s this gem around town and can talk to the driver, we will be getting more photos and info. (Click on photo for larger image)
